Comments: JUST WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU A FUN FILLED MARTIAL ARTS DAY. On Saturday, October 26, 1996, I attended a martial arts tournament hosted in honor of Sijo Emperado (founder of the KAJUKENBO System) held in Santa Clara (near San Jose), California. It was an open tournament but most of the competitors were from the KAJUKENBO. There were many martial arts pioneers in attendance: Adriano Emperado, Ming Lum, Al Novak, Sig Kufferath, Joe Halbuna, Charles Gaylord, Cacoy Canete. There were other notable martial artists in attendance: Malia (Dacascos) Bernal was filming the event for her network show which will be an eight part series shown on ESPN. Max Togisala (tournament promoter), Emil Bautista, Ted Sotelo, Gary Forbach (who performed an awesome form) and many many more. Some of the top fighting school in California were there including BITW (Oakland) and Rick Kingi's Team (Inglewood). The day was filled with brotherhood & commeraderie and of course some heavy banging! Well, just wanted to share with you this special Northern California event. MARTIAL ARTS FOREVER!!!

Comments: Can you give me information on how I can become an affiliated member of any Karate system because my old karate student isn't really affiliated with anyone because he started his own system. It is hard to go to some tournaments because you are not affiliated.

Comments: I have a KAJUKENBO Studio in Santa Clara, California. I have been training Kajukenbo since 1971. I am under the Kajukenbo Association of America, "Gaylord Method". At our school we use the Kajukenbo as our foundation or base. We add grappling (Jujitsu) & trapping to compliment our Kajukenbo and ranges of fighting. We also incorporate western boxing. I have a former Pro Boxer who is full contact karate World Champion, Chris Brinkerhoff, at the school. I also have an "all range" full contact Black Belt, Dr. John Bono, at the studio. He recently helped prepare a fighter for the UFC. We have alot of fun at the studio. Other Martial Artist who we recommend to seminar with are: Gracie Jujitsu (Rickson in particular), Larry Hartsell (JKD grappling affiliated with Dan Inosanto), Edgar Sulite (lameco system), Paul Vunak (JKD Trapping), to name a few. "Empty your cup and take in all that is usefull and pratical. If it does not work ... throw it out". If you are ever in the San Francisco Bay Area ... drop by and train with us. Also, I would like to pay tribute to all of the Martial Art Founders ... without them we would not be thriving in all of this GREAT MARTIAL ARTS! MARTIAL ARTS FOREVER!
